Wondering how long does LG get updates once release from google?

Depends on carrier and lately been around the same as others.

I got my at&t G3 5.0 update before the Gs5 and M8 did.

My G3 was updated to 5.0 not long after my Nexus 5 received it....both unlocked devices, UK, same network.

In the US, it's carrier based. The carrier adds their bloatware, then does some testing to make sure they didn't break it totally. Verizon usually is 6 - 8 months behind and they're first attempt is never a good one. They use us to test their Android flavor, make adjustments, then push out updates to the older version. After 1 or 2 updates, their Android flavor usually works well, but by then, they're 6 - 8 months behind again.

I'm on Verizon I have no understanding of the term Fast updates. Can you explain what that means? Or maybe somebody can interpret it for me. Any help would be appreciated.

@doggy2965 - Fast updates as is when Google updates the OS, like coming from kit kat to now lollipop and when have incremental OS releases. I was wondering how the Lg phones stands up. I know its usually carrier based but I also feel the manufactures /models play a role as well. I'm currently on t-mobile using a HTC M7 and received lollipop 5.0.2 months before my Husband got his, just this week, but he has a Samsung Note 4 Edge on T-Mobile as well. And currently I think there is suppose to be another software release 5.1.1 something like that.

Hope this helps, someone may can explain it better.

T-mobile has to support WiFi calling, so that adds time. If you want speedy updates unlocked international version should be considered.

If you are on Verizon be ready for a wait. I have the g2 and only recently got 5.0. Before the update my phone was rooted before but since the update I feel no need to root it. So the wait for me was to long of course but I'm happy that when it did get to me it wasn't supper buggy because they rushed it. The g2 has to be the best phone I have ever owned. Could easily keep with it for another year at minimum but will probably get the g4 because hey I like new gadgets and since I'm paying a subsidy for a phone that is now paid for might as well.

All depends on manufacturer, AND carrier. Hell, Verizon isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. When I had a Verizon g3, LG was the one that was slow to release the 5.xx update.

My old G3 was updated to 5.0 last year. My 2 Samsung tablets a pro 12.2 and tab s 8.4 are still waiting. I'm rather more confident in LG at moment.
