Does Marshmallow on Nexus 9 support USB/OTG of exFAT drives?

A

AC Question

When I attach an exFAT drive to my Nexus 9 using an OTG cable, the native file explorer tells me the drive is corrupted. I'm pretty sure it isn't. It's a new drive right out of the box. I ran a disk check on Windows and allowed Windows to fix any file system errors (it did not report any). I read somewhere that Marshmallow had native OTG support. Am I wrong?

According to one article I've read, the 9 supports a 1TB hard drive on OTG, so it should support almost anything (up to 2TB at least). Make sure, though, that the drive is 64GB or larger - the default for 32 GB and smaller is FAT32, so an exFAT system would appear to be corrupted.
