Does Notification work for POP3 email acct?

Does Notification work for POP3 email acct? It doesn't for me on two pop3 accts, different isps, but does work for gmail. Thanks!

Edit: I mean not just notify with a sound, but actually check every x minutes for mail.It doesn't check or notify.

I use Enhanced Email app with Outlook POP3 account and notification works fine.

I'm using the built-in N7 email client. They are both set to check and notify. One is Outlook.com and the other is my isp mail. Manual checking works fine.

Enhanced Email is current on sale for 1/2 off ($4.99) on Goggle Play. I got mine from Amazon for my old Kindle Fire during one of Amazon's Free App of the Day sale.

I would hesitate spending $10 but $5 is reasonable. It works well with Outlook.

They are now, and that fixed it. Thank you very much.
It's interesting that the sync setting is the only one that isn't available in the "Account settings" that are accessible from the email client itself. I know now to dig around more to find preferences. Thanks again.
