Does OK Google not work when the screen is locked?

I just got my note 20 ultra! So far, so good, but man, it is similar and get different at the same time from my pixel 2xl!

I miss the squeezy sides of my pixel 2xl. So I figured I would enable the OK Google hotword on my new Note. However, when I try and send a text, it doesn't seem to work when the phone is locked and on ambient display.

Is this not possible?

Is there a way to set the double click to Google and then somehow access the camera another way?

For hey Google on lock screen , go to Google app open and at bottom go more >settings >assistant >voice match make sure hey Google toggled on.

As for side keys you can go settings >advanced features >side keys > can change to different apps you want as short cut .

Hmm... I have those settings already enabled. I think... I think cuz I have Google Homes in my house, they get priority over my phone and my Home told me I couldn't send texts, when I can through my phone.

Kinda frustrating ??????
