Does rooting and ROMming fix GPS issues?

I've read that rooting and.installing a custom ROM on the Triumph remedies most of its issues, but does it address the GPS problems that have been reported with the device?

go down to the forum called "MOTOROLA TRIUMPH UPGRADES" go down to the last steps about the thunderbolt.zip. instal that into ur phone using the methods it tell u to do this will give your whole phone smthing new to read take it as a refresh of the whole system

I read your other thread. Although I appreciate the time you took to write that out, it seems way beyond the scope of what I asked.

Just wondering if CM7 or other ROMs address the GPS issues people were reporting with the Triumph.

I understand why not just flashing the Umph kernal to your phone?

I have CM7 flash on mine and it usually takes like 5-10 seconds to lock

flashed MIUI and i get a near instant lock on gps. as fast as my old Optimus V

I did buy a newer model triumph though so maybe it was fixed in hardware by a model revision on my phone.

If all your looking for is a fix to GPS locking problems, there are several apps in the market that fix GPS lock on problems. I used this on my Thunderbolt when I had it, will use it on the triumph when I get it.
