Since we know this device is a slow charger (I'm ok with that) - does this though make the phone not charge "quick" enough while used as an in car GPS unit? with a 1-2amp charger?

People have had different experiences. In my car I've tried several 1A and 2A chargers using a USB cable specifically designed for charging. The only port I have that will register on the device as "AC Charging" is the one hard wired into my car's head unit.Even using that, turning down brightness, turning on power saver and turning off LTE, if I'm playing audio via bluetooth and using navigation I still loose battery ever so slightly. In my Wife's vehicle, under the exact same set up I can gain charge ever so slightly.

Either way isn't a deal breaker for me, but it is something to be aware of.

Others have had completely different experiences so YMMV.
