I can't seem to Swype on the Samsung keyboard but it works fine on the Swype keyboard. I can't remember if I was able to Swype on the Samsung keyboard on my old S4, but I thought I could...

You can, but you need to activate it. Go to your Keyboard settings, scroll down to Keyboard Swipe and select SwiftKey Flow

Ok, that option [Swiftkey Flow] is grayed out and can't be selected in Settings.

If it is grayed out it may be a carrier thing. I am on Verizon and I have the option for Swiftkey Flow and it works on my Samsung keyboard.

Sprint here, I can use it too but it isn't as fluent in recognizing like my note 2 was.

Yes, with ATT. I'm not sue why this would be carrier dependent. Weird.

I'm on AT&T also... have the option of setting the default keyboard to either the Samsung or Swype keyboard; nothing is greyed out on mine.

I too can select Samsung keyboard. It's when I try to select swype under Samsung keyboard, I cannot activate it. "Swiftkey Flow", specifically is greyed out for me.

It probably wasn't working because
when the keyboard prompted you to to save your word history back when you first set up the phone you clicked no.
