ASUS Zenfone 2 & LTE

So I'll be switching to my wife's AT&T plan from Verizon, who I've had since highschool. I'm looking at the ASUS Zenfone 2, but I've read widely varying accounts about how difficult it may be to get LTE on it since it's not an officially supported phone.

I need my phone for work, so going days without 4g could be a potential hardship. Is there a solid method to make sure that can happen in a timely manner, or should I go with a safer pick?

While I'm not completely sure about the connectivity issues, you should technically still have 4G. AT&T deploys both 4G (HSPA+) and 4G LTE. Of course, LTE is the faster of the two.

Have you looked at what bands the phone supports and then what AT&T is using in your area?

The problem is not the phone's capability. I've read here and other places that some users have had trouble getting AT&T to put it on an LTE plan because their records don't show it as 4G capable or something of the sort. I'm looking to make sure there is a way I can make it happen reliably, or else I will be looking at another phone instead.

You will need to have them put an IMEI number from an AT&T LTE phone on your line to enable LTE plans. You can get an IMEI from a corperate store working display model or a working display at Best Buy.

Just pop in your LTE enabled SIM and your all set! I have an unlocked Zenfone 2 and it works great. If you need any help just let me know.

I was able to use my phone's IMEI to get LTE service. It had one more step than just popping the SIM in however. The default APN was phone, I had to change it to NEXTGENPHONE before I contacted support about data.
