Does the LGV20 really needs protection?

I use skins for grip but no cases. It is very durable. Scary a little when dropped as I have a few times accidentally because the parts just scatter on the surface. But once you actually inspect the battery door amd housing you just realize there's not much damage done to the phone. And I've dropped mine on concrete once because of shallow pockets that the V20 did not sit all the way in.

Yes it needs a case. Something not too large that will allow me to able to comfortably sit down with it in my front pocket.

Does the V20 need a case? That's subjective... Although I will say that these premium devices are more of an investment these days than in the past. Actual cost & the fact that we rely on them for our every day needs, makes them important enough to protect...

With that said.... My V20 is naked while at home and a full case or bumper (depending on activity) once I leave the house.

I think any phone today needs a case because they are all becoming more fragile in my opinion. I know the V20 is claimed to be designed to military drop standards, but until they come out with a certification that it actually meets those standards, then it's just a marketing gimmick.

On day 1 I almost dropped it because the back was very slippery. I did not want to add bulk so I purchased a Spigen clear soft case and it is perfect. Then I damaged the screen protector that came with the phone and installed a Puregear tempered glass screen protector and both have been a blessing. I carry it in my front jean pockets all the time without any worries.

I would preffer using a case in home: my wife, cat and dog are good at damanging phones. The only time my phone hit the floor was when my wife drop it from the bed haha.

I wouldn't worry that it'll break because I've seen Android Authority's drop test but I do care about scuff marks and scratches. The V20 (compared to the V10) has absolutely no grip, just like the S8, so a case is best if you want and need to keep it in good condition. Gorilla Glass 4 should be able to withstand most drops. Now how durable is the camera glass? Don't think it's very durable because it's NOT gorilla glass. However, overall, it should be fine in most situations thanks to military grade rating (Mil-810G). Most flagships have rear glass backs now so the V20 has the upper hand in terms of durability. My last 2 phones were the S6 and S7 Active, VERY rugged phones​ but however very ugly looking and unnecessarily large size with small screens. V20 combines looks with durability.

All phones need protection. The V20 is certainly more durable than any all or mostly glass phone for the most part. The most durable phone I ever owned had a rubberized Kevlar back

I use a spoken carbon fibre case, with their glass screen protectors. Never had a sent or scratch on my phone yet (and I hope to keep it that way.)

The older Samsung phones had a nice grippy texture but it seems like all the manufacturers these days try to make it as slippery as possible. Their new models with the curved screens are like bars of soap.

It's everyone's obsession with a metal phone, doing nothing of benefit to anyone. Moto phones have some nice grippy backs. I loved how the Nexus 5 and 7 felt. For metal phones, I've used the V20 and HTC 10 and it's ridiculous how slippery they are.

For the most part the same consumer that buys the shiny phone puts it in a case.
