Does the Netflix promo code stack?

Started a second Netflix account, in my wife's name, on Thursday. That is what the Netflix rep told me to do. Everything went smoothly with applying the Chromecast code and even getting a one month free trial. I added a credit card as required and was all set. After using Netflix with the new account for two days I ran into a problem. On my tablet I was given a notice that my account needed a payment method because the account had previously used a free trial and was thus not eligible to use it again. That seemed strange so I jumped online and needed to "restart" my service. Once I did that my credit card was charge right away (an authorization anyway) for $9.19. That part is strange also because I was always charged $7.99 each month in the past.

I chatted with Netflix and was told that when I started using the same devices under the new account as I had used on the old account it kicked out the trial and Chromecast code. They didn't think I should have been charged the amount I was. The rep talked to the "higher-ups" and was able to get me three months free anyway but did confirm that the Google rules only allow one Chromecast code per household...so beware.
