The promotion ended - The update disables it. You really aren't getting free hotspot forever by not updating, its not like you aren't using their network and they can't tell.

Yep notice it says Mandatory System Update? Eventually it will be pushed to your phone and install when you reboot. You can delay it a few days but sooner or later it will install (unless you are running a custom rom).

Check back with them and see if it's still free - mine changed the icon and warns me to sign up for service.

you have to 'opt-in' to be charged. i think their faces will be the same as before they get their bills.
