Android Central Question

I like that my S7 Edge had the enhanced messaging feature so that I could see when my kids read my text message and now I do not have that option or at least I can't figure out how to enable it. Can anyone help?

Yup, it does... with a caveat: It needs to be supported by your carrier. IF it is, you can only get those options in the stock messaging app, and you'll see a 'Chat Settings' section in the app's settings. The option needs to also be active in the other phone (won't work one way).

We have sprint and when I had the S7 Edge we had no problems with the enhanced messaging. I just upgraded and have the chat settings but my husband and kids are still on the S7 Edge and I cannot see when they read my message. I no longer get that little 1 in the corner of the text message. I thought that the rich communications and the enhanced messaging were suppose to be the same thing.

They are. Are theirs set to send the read notification (you can turn that off on the S9)? Also, check with Sprint to make sure they do support RCS/Enhanced Messaging on the S9 (don't see why they wouldn't, but still confirm) as this also varies from device to device even on the same network.

Is Advanced Messaging the same as RCS? I don't have specific RCS settings on my phone in the Samsung stock message app, but I have seen screenshots of them on other Samsung s9+'s.
