Does the V30 seem like a worthwhile upgrade from the V20?

I'm currently using a V20 that I bought off Amazon. It's still running perfectly (for the most part; battery life seems shorter than when I first got it) so I was wondering if the V30 seems like a worthwhile upgrade at this point. It looks like a really nice phone and all but would it be worth it at the time of release?

If the specs turn out to be true, for my needs/wants...for sure. The camera bump from f1/8 to f1/6 has me drooling if true. I haven't had the same quality of camera since leaving the G4(in my opinion) so this might do it. Same with improved video and audio recording. Even rumor of support for external mic.

The battery is a bummer (non-removeable) but with better hardware/software, doesn't seem like a deal killer. So, all being said, im in.

To me it will be a sideways upgrade....... Some new stuff is an upgrade BUT it will be dropping some of the Great V series stuff. Removable battery, second screen and durability (it's going to be glass backed, right?)
So is that an upgrade? It will be a new phone series, in my view (not a V).

Lateck,

It would be a sideways upgrade for me as well since I just picked up my V20 back in May brand new for $350 and refuse to pay full price especially how fast the android LG phones drop in price. I will be using my V20 and G4 till they fall a part honestly since I love the removable batteries and the camera on my G4 I love.

My honest opinion is no new phone is worth replacing a 1 year old flagship, none of them improve that much year over year.

Some of us like our gadgets and toys, it's fun to get a new phone, but it's not some large revolutionary improvement that will change how you use your device.

I wouldn't call it revolutionary but Google Daydream support is a good enough reason for some

Generally, I would agree with you. There are diminishing returns every year as phones improve and market tastes change.

The only thing about the V30 that I see that's worthy is the Snapdragon 835 which is not only faster, but much more efficient, so expect better battery life. My V20 still gets great battery life, a minimum of 4 hours screen on time which is good. I'm expecting all day battery with the V30, at least for the first 6 months. Really hoping they are going to include 6GB of RAM though, though 4GB is the bare minimum for me to have. Also, if you're a fan of AMOLED screens, then you will like the V30, though I think IPS screens look better, for some reason I get "bored" of looking at AMOLED displays.

I don't know if you saw my thread about my audio issue that I resolved by factory reset, but I'm also getting better battery life.

I've got to agree. If you like the v30, check out the v20 instead and pocket the difference. You'll get a hell of a phone.

I think it's a definite and significant upgrade.

It's a tough call for those primarily stuck on the features the V30 loses from the V20. I agree that this phone is a step in the right direction for LG. I'm definitely liking some of the improvements in the camera. I like what I'm hearing about about the DAC and I'm also hoping B&O is available in all markets. I'm liking the Google Daydream support. Water resistance is not a feature I look for but if I'm going to lose the removable I welcome it. Wireless charging is also something I take or leave, but welcome it. Overall I'd call it an upgrade.
