Does the warm back/warm really bother you? Thinking about changing the phone

I currently have both the s4 and HTC one. I like the HTC One much better then the S4 primarily because of the screen. However, the back of the HTC gets really hot on the entire back, 108'F compared to the S4 98"F. The S4 only gets hot near the camera area which I dont really touch. The heat starts to make my fingers sweat. I have placed the double dip case on the htc one and it still feels warm throughout. Both phones usually gets this hot during web browsing or flipboard use. I am having a hard time deciding if I should keep the HTC ONE due to heat. Most reviewers have not mentioned this issue at all and I wonder if it's common for you guys. I know some people in here have had both, please let me know what you thought. Thanks.

so it sounds more like a comfort issue for you. these are some hightech batteries and its summer. cases will increase the phones temp. they need edge covers so the rest is open to air and shield hand

The back getting hot is a good thing, This is an all metel case and it has a lot of copper to get the heat off the compononts. I've had the ONE for a couple of weeks I've had a Galaxy s3 before this and the S3 would get hot and stay hot but THE ONE cools down quick. The reason metal displaces heat much better than plastic so the components cool down quicker which will I think will make them last longer including the battery. If the ONE gets to hot for you put it down for a sec and I'll will cool down quick where my S3 would stay warm for 5-10 min,

If I'm using a phone for searching, I like to keep at it, so putting the phone down would not be ideal. Only compromised for me is the hot back on the HTC one. I wonder if the temperature will ever get better over time?

/shrug. My S3 gets pretty hot if I use it and data alot.

Sent from my Sprint S3 using AC forums.

I have read reports of the S4 getting much hotter than the HTC ONE. This must not be the case with you. For me it does not bother me at all and would not consider changing to an S4 as IMO the ONE is a much better phone for my needs and wants.

Mine doesn't get hot. What are you running that's causing your cpu to overheat?

just nova launcher, battery mix, flipboard and chrome. I have been reading it's normal for the htc to run at temps of 100'f to 110'f

I have the Galaxy S4 and it doesn't get warm let alone hot. But I do not play games on it so others that do may comment differently.

Mine rarely gets hot. It got warm once. I'm a pretty heavy user, too-- but not for gaming, so that may make a difference. Still, I gotta wonder if the phones that are regularly getting that hot might have issues.

My daughters S4 gets hot just looking at it. No need to turn it on either!!!.....naw seriously, it gets HOT. Just browsing and texting the thing gets so hot you can cook a steak on it and it stays warm forever. Gsam battery clocked it at 109 degrees F using it and 89 F at idle.

I have both phones and haven't noticed a significant heating issue with either. My One will occasionally feel warm due to the metal, but nothing so significant that I need to put it down. I'm probably a mid-level user just in terms of how much I use the phone. And similar to the OP, I'm relatively basic in my app selection.
