they should have made the wood back plate a little thicker to elevate it from the bezel don't you think?

I don't disagree, but it's nicely recessed when you use the other mods. Not defending them, but that seems to be what they were going for.

Nearly all phones have the camera lenses flush or sticking out. I've literally never scratched one.

I wouldn't call it "much" thicker, but it is thicker. It wouldn't protect the camera if it wasn't thicker.

No scratches on mine and im not what you would call careful when sitting it down. I also have a tendency to spin the phone while it's sitting on a bar and that hasn't tone anything to the shell or the camera lens.

No damage to mine, but this phone is slippery. If I set it on the arm of my couch, it slides right off. I'd be more worried about that damaging the camera. I've already cracked my tempered glass because it fell off of my chair

Doesn't affect photo quality, I guess.
Wouldn't worry much.

And when it's so damaged that it's not taking clear pictures anymore, you can snap on a camera mod.

This is why I like the Incipio back plate mods.

Mine has one tiny scratch around the outer edge. It's very tiny and can only be seen under direct light.

Still, it's getting covered by a Dbrand skin and also getting the OffGRID to recess it.
