Don't do factory reset

As you very well know this latest update from Verizon messed up the 4G and battery life. Also it has been posted on the forums that a factory reset will solve the problem... well, that's not the case! I did one and now I'm stuck on 3G when before at least I had 4G sometimes.
We should all call Verizon and tell them we won't pay our bills until they fix the problem. It is ridiculous to pay for 4G and top coverage and not get any.

Okay thanks! I was planning to do the rest because my battery life was totally messed up by this update, but I guess I won't bother with reset.
That means I probably have to deal with Verizon and their BS bureaucracy, and try to get a new phone. *sigh*

Didn't help me either. My data speeds are the slowest they have ever been.

I tried and was only offered a $10 credit and a refurbished/used replacement. I refused and ported my number the hell out of Verizon! Sure, I ended up rooting my phone, clearing cache and flashed CleanRom and was good as new, but for as much as they charge for their 'fastest, largest, reliable' network and allow this to happen is completely unacceptable. Calling Verizon is a complete waste of time because they only point the finger at Samsung, which is a cowards move IMO....its incredible how Verizon blames Samsung for this when Verizon CLEARLY was involved with this update, unless Samsung included the Verizon Caller ID app on their own?

Shame on you Verizon, you have ruined a great phone and completely exposed just how clueless your support really is.

LOL spoke with Verizon today and the gal said Verizon isn't aware of a problem with this update. See passed me to a level 2 person who said the same. Both reps said factory reset and if that doesn't work they would send a refurbished phone. I don't want to reset and definitely don't want to take a chance on a refurb. Phone was fine before update. Battery life sucks, bad signal and browser stutters. POS update.

I tried to root and flash another ROM but got the message saying that the software is not approved by Verizon so I was stuck. Finally I found a 4.0 software and now it's working. I'll try again to put a 4.1.1 on, the one before the latest update. Also I have a replacement on the way just in case...

I ported mine to Sprint. Sold them my then-useless S3, took the $100.00 credit for an HTC One, and walked out with it with a $9.00 credit on my account. Their map says LTE is coming here this summer, so we'll see. Still happy as a pig in sh!t with the One. I owe Verizon a chunk of change for an ETF, but hey, that's only like 3 months of service. They lost a customer for life.

I posted this in the other couple of threads related to the OTA clobbering of the working GS3 phones. Perhaps we can get a loud enough howl to get a policy change. I'm with the person above who does not want some refurb phone that didn't work when shipped.

++++++++++++++

The OTA update screwed my GS3 too. 4G service won't work unless in a very high powered signal area. 3G also drops out. So I'm left with terrible data service. I've been to the VZ corporate store a couple of times and am getting another phone shipped to me. However, I really think that VZ should give the affected people an opportunity to buy the GS4 for $150 or so. I had a relatively new phone that worked fine until VZ konked it. I didn't do it. Now it seems that they want to possibly send me a refurb or some type. Meaning that the replacement phone had problems and they hope they fixed them. My phone dind't have any problems until they "fixed" it. Offering a current model phone as an option for a reasonable discount price seems fair to me. Why do I want something that has a history of not performing?

Anyway, I wanted to post that they will replace the phone. I hope that if enough people howl a bit we can get the replacement policy changed to include the upgrade option. Another factor for me is that I'm on the old Unlimited Data plan so another upgrade through VZ is not going to happen. It seemed to be a good opportunity to move up.
