I'm using Samsung Galaxy S3 android version 4.0.4. I've been advised by someone to not update the firmware/software unless necessary. Because the updates versions tend to be faulty. So, I've been avoiding downloading it. Yesterday, I connected my phone to a wifi network and somehow without my notice the latest software version has been downloaded and my phone has been prompting me to install it every 3 hours. Should I go for the installation?
I don't even know which version has been downloaded!! >_<
Another problem is that every time I connect my phone to my pc, my pc hangs!
Can anyone please save me from this??? ARGH!

Go to settings, go application manager and swipe to "All" catergory. Next, search for "software update" and click it. Once u have done it, click force stop or disable it. That's it.. it will NEVER pester u to upgrade again :)

The updates aren't any more buggy than what you have on it.
Update it.

Be that as it may - 4.1.1 & 4.1.2 were pretty stable; not only does 4.3 have some issues on the International version, there's also a possibility that once you go to 4.3 you won't be able to revert to a previous build or root (due to the Knox bootloader component).

I'd counsel against 4.3 until more facts are available.

If you go to Settings -> About phone -> Software update, it should show you what build you're updating from as well as what build you're updating to (it's all in the filename of the update).

Updating to anything less than 4.3 is ok.

I can't see them there. No mention of any versions..... That's the problem. :/

I did the "Settings>Appliction Manager>All>Software update>Force stop" thing for stopping the update notification. It stopped pestering me but after restarting the phone and turning on internet, I'm getting the same irritating message! >_<
And the battery has decided to act all funny too. Getting charged incredibly slowly. 3% rise in 2 hours!! >_<
I did the wipe cache partition thing by turning the phone off and all but it's still not working!
Charging while keeping it turned off isn't working either :/

I just noticed a pin missing on the smaller end of my charger! Could all the problems be due to this? :o
