I just got my Droid X if a month ago is just getting it. I am learning it slowly as I had a Blackberry before.

OK.. The issue is that when I get mail I get it not only on my gmail account but it also comes in over the text side as well.

The messages are identical with the rare exception if my daughter texts me or I get something from the carrier, then it only shows up on the email side. Weird.

The carrier is Verizon, we are still 3G over in these parts.

I have played around with the setting and thought I had it, but I succeeded in blocking all email and that wasn't going to work.

I have some mail that is sent to me at gmail.com and it arrives in my gmail box and a copy shows up in my email box.
Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

Make Gmail's email, contacts and calendar your main focus for all three of these. Then, go into settings and have Gmail "fetch" your pop3 email accounts (as in Verizon email). It will then send it to you via your Gmail account (you can delete the other account from your X at this point). Will solve your double problem and works very efficiently.

While in Gmail settings, you can also set it up so when you reply from your Vz email, it will show your Vz email as the return email address.

Also, check your settings in two places to make sure everything syncs instantly (a TERRIFIC feature using Gmail)...

-- Settings > Accounts > Your Gmail address > checks by sync Email, Contacts, Calendar and Books. (Hit menu and sync now to get it started)

-- Settings > Battery and Data manager > Data Delivery > checks by background data, data roaming and data enabled.

What I do have

I have under my settings for the gmail incoming server as impa.gmail.com on port 993 and also I have my calendar syncing with the gmail calendar which syncs with outlook on my computer . I also have a mac at work which syncs with this...

Ok.. then I will change the incoming to pop3 and see how it works.:)
