Good day, android users. I have a problem with my Galaxy S7 that hopefully, someone can help me or advice me on how to resolve it. My Galaxy S7 started to have the 'double tap to unlock' message show up everytime that I either make a phone call, or answer a phone call. It just keeps on popping up even when I'm already having a conversation on the other party. And I have to keep on tapping it or I will lose the call. Can it be a bug of some sort, perhaps? Or as simple as going to the settings? I have asked assistance from a few T-Mobile (my carrier) personnel but even them, can't figure out on how to resolve the issue.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you know if your proximity sensor has been turned off? It's possible on the S6, but I don't know about the S7 -- open the Phone app, tap Menu>Call Settings, and look for "Turn Off Screen During Calls." If that's disabled, then it's possible that "double-tap to unlock" lockscreen appears so that your face doesn't accidentally press any onscreen buttons while you're talking (since the screen won't be turned off during a call).

Than you for assistance. However, I found out that I don't have that option (Turn off screen during calls) on my S7. Is there any alternative that I can use to resolve the issue of my phone?
Thanks in advance

When you're on a call and you bring the phone up against your ear (or if you put your finger over the proximity sensor, which is right next to the front-facing camera), does the screen turn off automatically?

I performed that test and it didn't turn off the screen after I covered the 2 dots (sensors) right beside the front facing camera while making a call. Thanks for your assistance.

It must have something to do with the proximity sensor being turned off. System settings menu can differ sometimes depending on the carrier. Did you get the phone directly from a carrier, or was it an unlocked global phone?

Thank you. It was a T-Mobile phone but eventually was unlocked after I paid it off. I have searched over and over (youtube, google), but was unsuccessful in finding the proper resolution. A bit frustrating because as you mentioned, some Galaxy S7 have the feature/setting that you described. But not on mines'. Thanks again for giving it a shot and taking the time. Great forum. btw!

Do you know if anyone has ever manually installed a new firmware update on the phone?

Except for the little apps that I insatalled, no firmware was installed as far as I'm concerned. Would you recommend a factory reset on my S7?
Thank you, Mr B. Diddy for your assistance.

Before you go as far as a factory reset, try the following first:

1. First, wipe the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-24999

2. If that doesn't help, then see if the same thing happens in Safe Mode: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28008. If it doesn't happen, then something you installed is causing the issue -- you may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away.

3. If it still happens, then your next step would be a factory reset. But sometimes this may not solve the issue, if the firmware on the phone has become corrupted somehow. In that case, you can try to reinstall the firmware using Smart Switch: http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29914

I'm going to move this to the S7 forum, so that there's more specific traffic from S7 owners. Maybe someone else with an S7 can shed some light on this.

I have the exact same problem with my S7. I can't find a remedy for it either. I've taken the phone to AT&T and they have no idea what is wrong with it or why it would just all of the sudden start this. I've even downloaded the current update today and it hasn't fixed the problem. I've also done a factory reset on the phone and continue to have this problem. The phone is basically useless to make or receive calls now.

My S7 Edge just started to do the same thing today. It is a T-Mobile factory phone. I did an update 2 days ago.

Same issue here as of a couple of days ago. Just uploaded the latest security system update...hoping it helps. This just started happening without me doing ANYTHING different to my phone.

Go to Settings>General Management>Reset>Reset Settings. It will reset all settings to their defaults. This worked for me on my S7, hopefully it works for you. Good luck!
