Double tap to wake?

Is there a way to double tap to wake the screen? Mostly needed for me when I have my phone in the car holder or on my bicycle in the handlebar holder.

A custom kernel can do that. Aside form that, I am not sure.

I think my OK Google can wake it up. I haven't had the phone in those holders yet it's not even 24hrs old

There should be some 3rd party apps on Google Play that add this feature. The downside is that it probably impacts the battery more, since the phone has to stay awake to sense your taps.

I wasn't happy with the third-party apps and I did just tested Okay Google works great for waking it up
