Downloading Android Auto App

Do you have a unit yet? According to Pioneer's website they haven't released any head units with Android Auto in your market (Canada) yet. So, I'm not surprised that Google hasn't adjusted the compatibility settings in the Play Store to allow you to download it.

I going to go get my 4100 NEX put in today, so, pretty sure I going to need the app.

Yes, you'll need the app. You should be able to find a link to it at Android Police. I don't know if it's the latest version. The latest version I see in the Play Store is:

1.0.062923 (1788739-release)

I don't know if there are any country-specific differences, so your mileage may vary.

How do I find the app on Android Police all I finding is the articles on it, or is it an app I download onto my phone and go from there?

Have you been able to get this to work? I installed the APK, connected to my 4100, when the app connects it wants to update maps, calendar etc to be compatible with Android Auto.

Android Auto wants you to have the latest versions of Play Music and Maps.

You should be able to manually update those apps and Android Auto should be happy.

Watch out if you don't have latest version of Android Auto installed and are outside the US. AA refused to run for me when there was a newer version, but wouldn't allow download from Google Play.

Can't stress this enough: I highly recommend letting apps update themselves in Google Play.

And there's an easy way to force the Google Play Services update to the latest version, to boot:

Update all of your Google Apps through Google Play Store, then find Google Play Services in your Application Manager, and uninstall updates. Google Play Store will then recommend a Google Play Services update.

Just FYI - unfortunately Goodle doesn't launch AA in many, many other countries although it works.

E.g. Germany: Launched <> Austria: Not Launched (although it's the same language there etc)
So I need to install the APK every time there is a new update :(
