Downloads stop when app is minimized in galaxy s6

I am running on Android 6.0.1 on the Samsung Galaxy s6. The problem is that downloads stop when the app which I'm using is minimized. Eg: if I download a file from chrome and I minimize chrome, it says download failed. It's the same with all apps. How do I fix this? I also recently installed Flud which is a torrent client and it's the same problem. If I minimize the app then downloads stop.
