I have a question for the galaxy note 8.0 owners in the forum. I have been noticing an odd thing with my tablet. The long icon press and then drag and drop to the garbage bin way of uninstalling apps doesnt seem to be working for me for any app. The only way I am able to uninstall apps is by going to Settings -> Applications Manager

Could you please check if you are also facing the same problem?
Or is there anything that I am doing wrong?

Thanks a lot for your help!!

Hi I take it your press and holding on the homescreen? If thats the case all putting the icon on the bin will do is remove it from the home screen. If its from the apps page it still does not delete. There are two ways to delete an app 1 is to go to the play store find the app you want rid of then hit uninstall ( assuming the app you want rid of was from the play store that is) and 2 is as you mentioned using an app manager (for an app not installed via the play store in the first place, such as an .apk downloaded from google etc.). I have a GT-P1000 and an GT-N7100 and its been the same on every samsung device ive used.

Thanks a lot for your response. Yes, I was referring to trying to delete from the app page.
It just doesn't seem to work. What's up with that

Yeah I've noticed the same thing, it must not be a feature of Samsung devices.

Its the same as on my note 2. I actually prefer it. I frequently download all sorts of apps. I only put the most frequently accessed apps on my home pages. I know you can do folders but so far only bloated apps are in folders. Being able to only delete an app from the app drawer also provides that I wont accidentally delete something while I frequently rearrange my homescreens.

Thanks for your response. The challenge I am facing is that I am not able to delete the app from the app drawer but only able to delete it from google play or Settings.

That's how Samsung designed it, nothing you can do about it aside from changing launchers.

I'm not sure if it's the same, but on my GN 10.1 if you long press the Icon on the home screen, it gives you the option to Uninstall the app. I'm using Nova Launcher Prime though, so not sure if that makes a difference or not.

That is a feature of Nova. Not going to get it on TouchWiz.

Oh ok. Nice feature though. LOL. I wasn't sure if that made a difference or not. Thanks Optimus Prune.

The app drawer works similiar. Go to the page the app is on that you want to uninstall. This time hit the menu key. In case you dont know its the one to the left of the home key. Inside here is an option to uninstall. The app icons will have a minus sign on them just push the sign and confirm you want to delete them. When finished press the back key and you will be out of the delete screen. Preinstalled apps
(bloat) you wont be able to uninstall unless you root. So when you try as per the previos steps on apps that are installed by samsung there wont be a minus sign on them.

Thank you kind sir :D
Finally was able to delete the app. The only disappointment is the carelessness of the implementation of uninstall in the app launcher with an uninstall option (drag & drop) that doesn't work.
Well it is what it is....

It's not that it doesn't work lol it was designed like that on purpose. It says remove so you can remove it from the page, not uninstall it.

Now I got it. When you long press the apps in the app launcher it takes you back to the home page which leads to the confusion that you are uninstalling from within the app launcher.

Thank you so much for the enlightenment :D. Learned something today.

Yep long pressing in the app drawer basically just puts a short cut for thst app on your homescreens.
