Wayne is right, grab a Droid X out of the box and turn it on. Scroll around the default homescreens and app drawer and it is choppy and stuttery to the touch. Not to mention it looks horrendous.
Launcher Pro really does make a significant difference. Unless you've never played a videogame before and have no experience with high framerates (movies/tv are at 24/30 frames per second respectively, games play at 60 and higher) then you won't notice or feel the lag in Blur, but take it from an avid PC gamer of many years, it is indeed slower than molasses.
