If it is Windows wanting to do anything then don't. I learned that the hard way. It wanted to scan and fix, but it just screwed it up.

If you format your sd card you will lose everything on it. If you have the adapter to hook your sd into the computer then try that and see if it says the same thing. You can format from the computer once you get everything moved to the computer. Once formatted just move it back so you will have everything back on it.

So your saying take the Sd card out of the evo and download everything to the computer, fpormatt it and move everything back?? Sorry if i sound like an idiot.

Yes, no worries about asking about somthing that you don't know about.

BTW, this error with the SD card seems to be more prevalent with computers that are running Windows Vista / 7. For some reason, they are more picky when you plug a removable drive into the USB port.

The trouble is that the "fixing" that Windows does messes with how the Android system on the phone is looking at the card. It must move some sectors around or something, but if you just allow Windows to "fix" the card, it will likely make it not work with your phone until you format it again.

Personally, I try to only format SD cards with the official SD card formatter program:
SD Formatter 3.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC - SD Association

SD Card

I bought a Micro SD Card reader/writer today. Plugged in my USB went to my computer clicked drive E and I get the same warning message. I right clicked on the drive to see if I could open that way but no luck. Advice please!:-\

I don't know how far you made it with the formatting. At this point, I would allow windows to scan and repair the SD card. Then I would copy the entire card to a folder on the computer. Format the card using the utility I linked to (it formats the card to the SD standard, I don't believe that Windows follows the standard exactly). Lastly, copy everything the contents of the folder that has the SD card data on it back to the card.

You should be good to go with the card working on both your phone and your PC again.
