Droid 1 - Toast?

So, I bought a Droid 1 from Craigslist. To be honest, this is all my own fault because the seller claimed she had 'no idea whether it worked, it did the last time I used it'.

It was worth a risk for $10, basically.

ALAS, the back panel is missing, though I doubt this is my issue. More importantly, I appear to be able to charge the device; the light on the power/micro-USB port is lit; I get a flashing green light in the top right corner and the 'hardware' buttons on the bottom of the device light up.

Unfortunately, that's all it does. I imagine the screen is toast, in which case, I presume that the unit itself is also toast. I was planning on using it as a wireless webcam, so a half-functioning screen is OK by me - but I have to install stuff and configure the webcam software to get it to work initially. I've tried the usual removing the battery, holding the power button with various keys and attempting to cast a spell on it. No joy.

I have a Droid 1 dock/stand which doesn't seem to help out.

Anyone got any thoughts other than 'HAHA! SUCKER!'?

But really I think it is probably toast. If I remember right usually when a motorola has a solid or blinking green light and the phone won't do anything usually means it is dead.

Can you get any sound or vibrates out of it? It could be that the middle flex cable is broken causing the top half of the screen to not function properly.
Do you have to tools to look into repairing it yourself? If not you could try taking it to repair shop and let them diagnose it.

No sound, no vibration. Just the blinking green light and the hardware buttons are constantly lit up.

Alas, no tools nor expertise to try to repair it myself. Might be worth taking a part just for fun at this point as I expect it's next journey will be into the garbage.
