Not if they only make a set number of phones per run.... I was told on roll out day that each store has 160 phones and that once they were gone, they would have to wait for more from MOTO because they didn't want to be stuck with tons of them like they were/are with the crackberryS1

i think the conclusion of this is that there are NOT different builds of the physical device as of yet. What you are seeing is just the nature of manufacturing and slight differences between devices. But come on heads, it's not like we're buying a beautiful guitar or something where you play 10 versions of the same model to find the one you like, these are phones.

Exactly. When you mass produce an item, ESPECIALLY with phones, no one device is going to be precisely the same as the other. Each device is going to have it's own unique "birth mark" so to speak as a result of mass production.

Yeah that seems fair to say. You can't guarantee identical devices per couple hundred thousand units!
