For the past two morning, I have been unable to look at my droid. It is like it goes into a sleep mode and I can not do anything to unlock it. I have pressed every button, called it, and tried plugging it into a charger but the screen remains black with a blinking green light on top. The only thing I can do is take the battery out and put it right back in and it will start up. Is anyone else experiencing this as well? Should I have to do this? I have not traveled since getting it, but now I am afraid if this happens and the alarm does not work.

If the issue continues you may want to perform a hard reset and start from scratch. If you still have the same problem, I'd then go exchange it for a new one.

This has happened to me twice in the past week. When I wake up in the morning the phone is unresponsive to pressing any of the buttons including the power button. When you insert the power cable nothing happens. I have to pull the battery out in order to use my phone.

As soon as I do this the phone powers on. I immediately checked the battery life but it was at 60%. So I know the battery didnt die.

I did uninstall about 3 or 4 apps before i put the phone down for the night but other then that just normal use of the droid. I have several friends with the droid who have not experienced this behavior yet. Might be the phone? or ?

It shouldn't be doing that. I Would also recommend a hard reset.

same thing happening to me

Yes I have the same exact problem and the only thing to do is a battery pull. I thought I got away from that when I put the blackberry to rest after buying the Droid.

Wow, this actually happened to me one morning last week. It was my first ever problem at all with the phone. I did a battery pull and that fixed the problem.

I should note I was charging it overnight. I got the same blinking LED. It's been fine for a week since.

You may not be using the charger made for the droid perhaps? I've heard of people having issues when using after-market, or their BB chargers. You should be using the charger that came with it, or an official droid charger. J/W if you are.

Not sure about others who have had this problem while charging... but I am using the charger it came with. Hopefully it doesn't ever happen again.

I have to say I have had this same problem and was using the the charger that came with the phone one time it even happened when the phone was not on the charger but left over night but finally i got an error to pop up and it looks like one of the Beautiful Home widgets was causing the problem since removing it I have had no more problems, but it seemed to happen after the last update they made of the app.

Now come to think of it I was using the DigiClock Widget at the time. I changed my screen layout shortly after the reboot and removed it, but still have it installed. Wonder if that was causing any problems. My alarm clock was active too at the time of the lockup.

I did not have to uninstall it just remove the widget from the desktop and turn off the Temp prompt in the information bar and it has not locked up on me in 3 days, since. But it was strange when it did it I could press the button on top on the droid all day and nothing happened till I removed the battery and put it back. The other way it messed up the device just went to running slow I could click on something it would take like 20 seconds to respond if it even did, strange but oh well it is fine now.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that happened to mine too. When I first found that the phone wasn't responding to any buttons being pressed and I did the first battery pull... the phone came back on fine but then acted very slow just like you described. I had to do a 2nd battery pull and then the 2nd time it came back on it ran fine. Really weird, hope that's the only weird incident i have.

I had a similar problem. Plugged into supplied charger overnight (60% when plugged in).
Went to use in morning and nothing. Did BB fix but battery pull did nothing,so I plugged into charger again and hit power button and it came on with zero % charge. Called tech support and they told me to take it back and get a new replacement. At the store the tech wanted to replace the battery (he said Moto is having battery problems). But I said since I'm within the 30 days either I get a new phone or I go home and get the box and return it. He spoke to manager and gave me a new phone. This seems to charge quicker on usb and holds a charge alot longer. For what it is worth.
