What ups Android Central,

So I have had the incredible for about 3 days now, I love it , the feel of everything is precise besides the text messaging scroll which is a little laggy but i can deal with it. The main concern I'm having is when I charge my device, I fully charged it and the device was said to be at 100% when i took it off. But all of a sudden after having the device off the charger for 20 minutes it drops down to 82 %, and thats without using any apps or phone calls... Im pretty confused is the battery not fully charging? I left the device on the charger over night when it was turned off but for some reason when i woke up there was no light meaning it cut off, and what do you know when i turned it on it was at 80 percent (it was at 18% when i put it on the charger the night before) So does anyone have any advice? verizon said their sending a new battery but really how on earth does that work a battery that doesnt fully charge, never had that happen with a phone before .. pleaaaasseee hellp i love this phone and dont want to give it up but if i cant get more then 5 to 6 hours of time on it I cant keep it:(

The problem you are seeing is that once the device hits 100% on the battery it does not run off the wall power, it runs off the battery. So, while you think you are charging all night you are really only charging until it's full then it's draining the battery the rest of the night.

You can either charge with the phone off, or charge with the phone on and when you wake up in the morning unplug it for a minute then plug it in again.

There are many threads in the forum about battery strategies. There are two in the sticky threads and a search for battery will lead you to a wealth of information.

Hope this helps.

mmmm so when i take it off it says 100 % meaning its really not that it need to calibrate? and it drops down? even with a device sitting there 20 percent over that time of no use and the phone being off seems a little odd... does anyone know if the update will work on the battery issues so many of us are experiencing?

I know this sucks, but your best bet is to remove it from the charger in the morning, then plug it back in when you are getting ready. Then you will have a fully barged battery when you leave the house.

Buy an extended battery. 1700 is good if you want to keep the original door cover. I just ordered a 2800 online for 20 dollars. The cheap ones are from hong kong but heard they're of good/decent quality. Just get one for 10 or so dollars. You can't go wrong. Even if it's a crappy battery, it will at least be as good as the stock one most likely. I agree. The worst part of the incredible is the battery. If you get an extended one, though, the incredible is now perfect.

Also, search 'bump charging'. That works for a lot of people to help their battery life.

A simple strategy is to let it charge overnight, then in the morning unplug, check your email or whatever, and then plug it back in while you're getting ready for work. It will typically be fully charged by the time you're ready to go.
