Nice, much better than the Verizon logo . I'd like it to be much simpler though, just doing the "DROID" part would be cool I think.

It's pretty cool. A full walk through on how to do it is in those two threads I posted above, and like the OP said he linked to a how-to video on his youtube video. Really nice, I'll be messing with that in the coming days.

Can anyone tell me which of the boot files is being used in the original youtube link?

I previewed all of them (all of the ones it would let me) and I didn't see that one on there.

I was unable to preview the Nexus one, so maybe that is the one being used?

LOL exactly... But when you do turn it off/on, at least the custom boot is better to look at than the stupid VZW logo and red haze crap The boot time takes the same amount with the stock boot or custom.
So, I say do custom and at least look at something better! I did and looks awesome

The new boot is not any longer than the original one. It runs while the phone is initializing which is why it is there so you are not staring at a blank screen for what seems like a long time. You could force it to be a static image but it will still take just as long to boot.

As for turning off the device... just did to replace the batter.
