Droid/Eris Question...

Not to waste everyone's time, I did a search on this and really couldn't find what I was looking for.

So I currently have the Eris and I was looking to upgrade to the Droid. My main problem is the speed of the phone. (I could care less about the battery life, I've got enough chargers to keep it charged.) It just seems like the Eris drags butt. Often times I have to select an item twice before the phone will jump into action. (Received the 2.1 update too.)

I did a little research and it looks like the Droids processor is only 100 mhz faster than that of the Eris. For those who have had both - can you honestly say that the Droid is more snappier and responsive than the Eris? I'm not due for an upgrade until April or I'd get the Incredible. From what I've seen, I can get the Droid for around $200 used.

If im not mistaken...you are correct, however the Droid doesn't use "all the same" parts, and "clockspeed isn't everything" I'm not really saavy when it comes to the numbers....and No, I don't currently own either. I have played with both and I can tell you that the Droid seems fairly faster than the Eris running 2.1. I wasn't blown away by the difference, but if I was able to upgrade without it really hurting my wallet, I would do it.

The Droid is actually quite faster than the Droid Eris. I own the Droid and my Fiancee owns the Eris. I can honestly say that while my fiancee sits there at times frustrated because her phone will not do the task that she wants it to or it is lagging in what she is trying to do, my Droid is blazing along with no problems whats so ever. My Droid is rooted with 2.2 and it is overclocked to 900 mhz. Just throwing my 2 cents in there. If you have any other questions on a droid, just let me know.

Thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate you taking the time.

I might just have to try and get a Droid and try it out. An unresponsive or lagging Eris gets very frustrating. I love the Android OS, but this is border line unacceptable. (And I didn't know you could over clock the Droid. How cool is that!)

I have a Moto Droid and my wife has the Eris. I know exactly what you mean about the Eris lagging when responding to touch input and menu selections.

As long as you are ok with the Moto Droid's form factor (size and weight), you won't regret upgrading to the Droid. In addition to the overclocking, the Moto's dedicated accessories (car dock for navigation, and multimedia dock), make the Moto even better.

I have a Droid and my wife has an Eris. The phones are like night and day in speed and responsiveness. Even when I had a stock droid (running Froyo and OC'd to 800 currently) and my wife a 1.6 Eris the differences were obvious. I'm thinking some of it might have been due to the SenseUI that the ERIS runs. Now that her Eris is updated to 2.1 it's even worse. The ERIS is just NOT liking the 2.1 update. Her apps lag, her keyboard response is horrid and her Browser is constantly abruptly closing, with no error, and dumping her back tot he Eris Homescreen.

My Droid I've never had issue with. I did notice a slight lag when I put on Froyo but once I overclocked it to 800 it's running fine now.

Ya I've noticed several people at work complaining about their eris's glitching up with the 2.1 update, like the rom was just a bad port for it. The droid's dedicatied gpu also helps with it's quickness. On stock roms, I noticed my Droid lagging at times until I got BuglessBeast. You can also try fast reboot to help free up memory (simulates rebooting, without rebooting)...
