Was wondering if anyone had the issue with the signal strength being 1 or 2 bars at most with the 2.1 update?

yep u arent the only one since the update this thing blows been having all kinds of problems about to get a replacement yet again

Should have a year warranty via HTC which is honored by Verizon. Just goto a corporate store and not some 3rd party dealer.

I'm on my 5th Eris replacement because of this. They said it's the network and I say its the phone. I mean, yeah they will trust the company over another computer technicians observation

I'm having all kinds of problems getting a new one. They just keep coming up with crap for me to try and the phone still does all the same stuff.

yup i got sick of it and called last week was told to do a factory reset which helped for a few days then the problems came back called today should have a replacement in a few days i just cant wait to get rid of this thing now gonna hopefully get my upgrade date pushed up just in time for the droid x

I hope you have better luck than me. I am waiting for the HTC Scorpion to come out. I can't live without sense UI :/

You folks are all wasting your time by getting new phones due to the lack of bars. First, most HTC devices show lower bars than devices from other manufacturers. Second, the amount of bars on the screen is not an accurate representation of actual signal strength. To do that you need properly you need to Settings -> About Phone -> Network and check there.

What most Eris and Incredible users are noticing is that even though they have less bars than other phones, they tend to have equal or better reception and data transmission. The bars are misleading, and is likely a software bug in the OS.

im not getting a new phone cause of the bars im getting a new phone cause since the update this thing sucks got the silent bug not getting texts slows to a crawl sometimes etc

If you are having a problem like I am, which the signal is just for the starters of it. You can email corporate(located on verizon wireless under the contact us page) and if you write up a detailed situation that you are in, they will offer you other solutions. This is how I am either going to switch from my Eris to either the Droid from Motorola or the Incredible.

Your right, but the software is using the signal meter to keep looking for a signal and killing the battery. That is the problem with this glitch. Battery usage on mine says 90% without signal and I use the phone, email and internet just fine but I have to recharge during the day when I should be able to go days without charging.
