Hey guys I had a quick question and i have done searching but cannot find an answer. I am deciding between a droid incredible and a motorola droid... i know the moto droid has gorilla glass but my question is does the incredible have it to? thats a big deal breaker for me.
Thanks guys

How us is that a deal breaker? The glass used on the Incredible is still durable...it's glass. Are you planning on throwing your phone around and carrying it a pocket full of diamonds?

The only thing that should be the decision on if you want the moto droid or the INC is if you want a physical keyboard. If you are worried about the screen getting scratched then get a protector. Something like the zagg would fit your worries. Check out the scratch test with it. They even use a dremel on it.

There's a guy on androidforums that copied/pasted HTC's response who said in fact the Incredible IS equipped with Gorilla Glass

The glass on the HTC droid incredible is indeed Gorilla Glass. Check out the response to this question from htc: HERE

Yeah, just about to post that.

So it looks like it is. Since I found this, I don't plan on using a screen protector. :D

I've been using the motorola droid without a screen protector for months and carry it in my pocket. no scratches or anything. If the incredible has the same screen, you're good to go.

Not sure that post on the other forum is believable, as they seem to debunk the email from the CSR in the same thread.

IMO: If HTC doesn't mention it anywhere in the press materials, it most likely is not Gorilla Glass. I mean, its glass, so its relatively durable and scratch resistant. And it could be a GG clone of some type, but just not that brand.

Even if it's not gorilla glass, it's still very hard to scratch. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I have had the Incredible since launch day. Just recently found a few scratches on the screen. I saw the screen tests and was still really really careful but I guess it does happen. Rocking a screen protector until they can warranty me a new one.

Dude... lol at that being your criterion for deciding on which phone to pick. I had the Droid for a month, and returned it for the Incredible. They don't compare, in my book. The Incredible is 10 times better in every regard. Get a screen protector if that's what you're worried about.

Scratched my screen while wiping it with a lenscloth, so much for gorilla glass! Even tried polishing it out with an iPod scratch removal kit. No luck.

Unrelated but sort of related:
While trying to get the scratch off the screen I noticed a speck of dust under the screen. What a disappointing day!

Was the cloth made of Diamonds? Dirt under the screen? Sure your not talkin BB.

Just like the others said I dont think it scratches easy, but if it bothers you,,, use screen protector.I put one on mine when it was charging just to play it safe ;) and a case too(shell/holster case combo )

I carry mine in my pocket with keys at times. And it doesn't have a single scratch on it. I've dropped it on concrete, tile, asphalt no scratches yet. I've wiped it off with lens cloth, T-shirts, Blue Jeans and a mouse pan. No scratches. It does have gorilla glass but but even if it doesn't the screen is "Incredibly" durable.

No not diamonds, all I had was 80-grit sandpaper, that's supposed to work right?

False, a 3M microfiber lenscloth.

I agree the screen is "durable" but it can be scratched without even trying to hard obviously.

And as for the dust under the screen, sadly I wish it was a BB, then I wouldnt mind so much. Now I've got to live with my dusty incredible for who knows how long, and paranoid about it getting worse.

How did dust get under the screen? You sure your not seeing the bumps in the screen that are there for touch reasons?

Either the scratch was already there and you didn't notice it until you cleaned the screen or there was something very abrasive on your screen or lens cloth.

I purchased two microfiber lens cloths (as pictured below) more than 15 years ago when I became interested in photography I still have them and use them both today. Neither has ever once damaged one of any of my cameras' or lens' optics. And they work just fine on my Dincs screen too.
