DROID Incredible Receiving Gingerbread At End Of Q2?

But end of Q2 is June. ;)

Which means August/Sept once VZW finishes adding bloatware.

Is it too early to start an Official Guess the Gingerbread release date thread?

Ah, good 'ol VZW adding all their craptastic software. I think I'll stay with Cyanogen. :)

Same here. I love cm7. No sense, no Verizon bloatwere, just pure AOSP Android goodness with a few nice tweaks and additions included. Now that I've pretty much solved the wifi and battery life issues that I've previously had with CM7 I really don't care about the official OTA updates anymore.

Do tell your issues and resolutions with wifi and battery. PM me if you would rather.

I tired cm7 build 19 and had lots of issues with it. also if i remember right there was no backup assit for my phone contacts. i do remember the battery was hideous

i really like sense 2.0 but there are lots of bugs with that too

I love my Incredible I have kept it stock haven't rooted. I don't need to root it. I will be happy if it gets Gingerbread. I always thought it would be updated. It has only been out a year even with the other devices being released. It is still a popular device and it is still selling in the stores. I haven't played with the Thunderbolt yet. I am anxious to see, though, the Incredible 2 if it is released. I am pleased, very PLEASED with this device and coming from BB........am happy

I'm just not too keen on the larger screens now. The Incredible had the perfectly sized screen with just the right specs.

A few weeks ago I flashed CM7 RC1, which apparently had some kind of wifi bug because my phone kept switching over to 3G ( I always keep my phone on wifi because I don't have an unlimited data plan and I can't afford the overage charges if I go over my monthly 3G limit). Switching to nightly 11 solved that problem, and wifi works perfectly on nightly 26, which is what I'm using now. Also I had an issue with both RC1 and nightly 11 where "display" was taking up 79-95% of my battery usage and killing my battery life. Using nightly 26 and Incredikernel hasn't completely solved this problem but it has greatly improved it. Right now "display" is taking up 44% of my battery usage and wail my battery life isn't phenomenally better then on the stock ROM it doesn't seem to be much worse.

ahh.. the good ole days ;) so are the joys of nightlies!!!

even if OTA comes out, I don't want verizons BS taking up space on my phone... what more can I say that hasn't already been said.

If you are rooted and made any changes to your phone, you do not want to accept the OTA. If you are rooted and have not made any changes to your phone the OTA will likely take, but you will also likely lose root.

Rule of thumb: If you are rooted do not accept any OTA until you have reverted back to stock. The best case is that the OTA will fail and you will be no worse for the wear. The worst case is it will install, you will lose root and the phone will likely be unstable.

I thought if lose root you are ok.
Probably is better to unroot then upgrade, then root again no?

True, if the worst that happens is that you lose root - you're in good shape, but If you try to use Wireless Tether or something like that, which requires root, you're SOL.

Tony - when do you think the hysteria will start this time? ;) LOL

with me?
Hey I am happy being rooted with no custom rom.
I got rid of the bloatware and my device is working great.
I bought Poweramp for music and I think that is sucking my battery though....
I am still on the stock battery and doing ok after all my original problems.

BTW, no TB for me....I want the same size I have now so I will definitely be looking at the DINC replacement down the road.

The x got the leaked GB last night , of course it hasnt been rooted yet .

Sooo maybe the dinc GB isnt far away, of course being on CM7 nightlies kinda of an non issue lol. :)

I have not rooted my Droid Incredible, because I don't feel a need to tinker with perfection. Now that being said, I have waited patiently for GB and I almost thought it was being bypassed for the other, newer phones. After hearing about the Droid X/Droid 2 getting leaked GB and hearing the Nexus One and Desire (both phones have similar architectures to the DInc) getting it, I perked up with hope. Now it is not a matter of 'if' anymore, but a matter of 'when'.

I agree with earlier posts, I love my Droid Incredible....just like I loved my blackberry curve.

My only complaint...which still remains unresolved is that since the OS update to Froyo, I can't get caller ID to work when I am already talking on the phone. Yes, I have tried everything and still caller ID doesn't work for me when I am already talking on the phone ( I see the number, but it is not associated to a name).

I have learned to live with it. I seriously don't see any reason to upgrade to another phone at the moment. The size is perfect for me. I love Sense and don't even see a need for an updated OS.

I am unrooted, so still have the bloatware from VZW.
