Droid Incredible Screen Lock

Total newbie here. If this problem has been posted I apologize for not finding it. I just bought a used droid Incredible. It was stated on ebay to have only been used for about 2 weeks and I believe that to be true. I activated it on Page Plus last week and all was great.I love everything about it. The problem I'm having started today. When I want to lock the screen ( turn off the display) I push the power button to lock it right? Thats what I've been doing. Well starting to day I can't bring the display back up when I push the button again. The 4 icons at the bottom light up like when you unlock the phone to do something but the display does't come back on. I have to take the battery out,put it back in and repower up the phone to see the display. I really love this phone and don't want to have to return it. Did I do something to cause this? Is this a common problem with an easy fix? Any help would be appreciated it.

I had a Droid Incredible and it never did that. I mean, maybe the problem could be fixed by doing a hard reset of the device, but it sounds like a hardware problem.

You could try to contact HTC support to see if they have any ideas, or your carrier.

Fast boot is checked, ill bet. How to get there from where your stuck, I don't know.
