I have a Droid MAXX that's on Verizon LTE that is sim unlocked. When my contract is up later this year, I might move over to T-Mobile. I know T-Mobile LTE uses band 12 and the MAXX/ULTRA has it locked/blocked on what I've been reading. So has anyone got the MAXX/ULTRA to work on T-Mobile LTE?

T-Mobile uses bands 2, 4 and 12. Their primary band is band 4, which from what I can gather, your phone supports. You won't get band 12 though.

You can always test it out beforehand. Get a prepaid card from one of the MVNOs that use T-Mobile's network and pop it in. Worst case is you are out $30 or so, but that might be a worthwhile wager, depending on your situation.

HSPA+ vs LTE Speeds

I might move to T-Mobile from Verizon with my Droid MAXX. The MAXX really doen't support LTE. What is the speeds of HSPA+ vs LTE?

HSPA+ is actually halfway decent. It all depends on your local network segment, of course. But I've seen speeds of 8Mbps to 14Mbps down and 1 to 4 up. Right now, at my office, LTE is only a little bit faster than HSPA.... but I'm in a congested area.

You'll be able to connect but it's going to be pretty limited. My ex-gf connected her droid mini to t-mobile while we had sent her z3c in for warranty work. It successfully connected, but was usually very slow.
