I have a choice on a phone, I have an upgrade available.

I like the X because the large screen & the bright colors; I like the Droid because of it's versatility & design.

I just need an upgrade from my Tour, I was set on getting the X, but it might as well be a bust since the X might turn out to be backordered like the Incredible.

As long as FroYo will come to the Droid, it might be zippy so I'm cool with that. I guess pricing is the main issue, I have a NE2 so I guess I'll buy from Best Buy. Should I get the Droid today or wait a few weeks for the X.. Again -__-

Wait for the droid 2, that will be hitting the streets within a couple of weeks I believe.

From what I've read, the original droid will quickly be EOL'd

Personally I don't think the DX is too big and its a great phone.

I upgraded from a BB Storm to a Droid. I didn't like at all at first but as i got used to it the more i liked the OS but the less i liked the phone. For me the size was the biggest drawback. It just wasn't big enough. The slide out keyboard was cramped (i couldn't hit the top row keys, and the extreme side keys where very hard to hit.), and I have small hands for a guy. I played with the Inc for a bit, and loved the phone, but again the screen was a bit cramped for my taste. Yesterday I snagged the X, and I love it. Screaming fast, huge screen, and just fits in my meets perfectly. So I say go check out the X. Im glad I did.

I've had a droid since launch and just got the droid x yesterday. Personally I'm not a fan of what motorola's "not motoblur" has done to the device. A lot of the stuff they've added/replaced in 2.1 is simply worse, IMO, in comparison to stock. A prime example of which is the account sync (forced sync of all contacts, forced picture source for all contacts). Hardware wise I love the droid x. It's faster, bigger, thinner, lighter, and just feel like a very very nice phone. Call quality is better, it's just a better device overall.

My advice? Go play with them in person. Droid 2 will have the same OS customizations that the Droid X has. So ask yourself if you want the droid/droid2 form factor opr the droid x form factor and then if you want the motorola customizations or not. Performance will be better on the droid x/2 but for the majority of things that shouldn't be the biggest issue for you (form factor and motorola should be).

As for ordering, try walmart or wirefly or the likes for the phone too. Also, remember 7/23 is a week away and the phone will ship sooner than that in nearly all likelyhood.

Well I like the sleek design of the Droid, just because I am not fond of the camera 'hump'.

My mom is egging me on to get the X, she's like "you waited 2 weeks to get an X, so you didn't get it on the first/second day, you can wait a while more"

If I got the Droid, do you think it will be pretty speedy, I know it might not be as fast as the X, even with FroYo, but I just want a better speed than my Tour. The multimedia funtions push me towards the X, but will the Droid be able to use ALL of the apps in the app store that the X can? I do not like the Droid 2, it is ugly for me. I like the directional keys on the original Droid.

Once you use swype, you won't ever want a physical keyboard again.

That said, I would go for an X. The Droid will not be supported for much longer, so either the 2 or the X.

If "pricing" is your main issue...go with the original Droid.

If you want into the world of ROMs and rooting...go with the original Droid.

If you want the UberDroid...wait for an X.

I have both and the X is a lot better even if the Droid is overclocked and running 2.2 custom ROMs. That said, the Droid is still a powerful device but the X is much better.

Lol it depends on what you want out of the device.do you want root the option to overclock your phone, an open device get the Droid. If you like the specs of the dx and don't really need root or the ability to flash custom roms go with the dx its a great device. And will be suported for about 1 year longer. But the next person mention anything about speed I'm going to laugh my Droid is just as speedy as an x only benchmark that I've seen it beat my score in is neocore.

I thought you still would be able to root the X even enough you can't load up custom ROMs. Can someone tell me if I'm a compete idiot. :/

Have you seen the phone in person? The reason I ask is because I seriously hardly notice the hump. I think it makes the phone feel more stable in my hand.

The Droid is pretty speedy, especially compared to most of the phones available (save the nexus one, the incredible, and the evo) but it's not going to be as fast as the droid x. The droid will be able to use all the apps, the os version is what determines use of apps in most cases (carrier specific apps, root, etc withstanding).

For me, I'm probably returning the droid x, at least for now. But that's really really based on my displeasure with motorolas efforts.

Honestly if you don't mind what motorola did to the phone, the droid x is really an amazing phone. For most people, unless you NEED a keyboard (which given how nice and large the onscreen one is on the droid x is, you honestly don't), I'd suggest the droid x.

Yes! Swype is the shiz. If you want a physical keyboard, then maybe wait for the Droid 2. I agree that it's not going to be supported any longer since the EOL'd it. I'm figuring that they'll eventually root the X but I still don't know about custom ROMs, that's going to be a challenge.

Personally, if I was in your place, I'd give the X a test run and if you don't like it, wait for the Droid 2.

Oh yeah, and just wait until the X gets Froyo, it's going to be screamin'!

I have not seen the phone in person. I am saying I do not like how the hump looks, I have no problem with it being there lol.

UGH. I'm having mixed thoughts about both phones,
Droid- old, hack-able, sexy.
Droid X- fast, sexy, probably a lot of problems, out of stock ):

Idk which one! D:

Is google maps navigation great on both phones, is one better?
Also for both phones, can you move apps around in the "app drawer"?

Well I can tell you that I pity the fool that tries to take my x! I've never tried any other Verizon android phones but I love my x. My brother has the evo and I like the feel of my x so much better.

No...you can't move apps around in the app drawer, they are in alphabetical order for easy searching. You can have any apps in any order on your customizable home screens, however.
