Anybody knows what the difference in price between the new every two price and the regular upgrade price. I see I can upgrade to the droid for 199, but I am up for a new every two in August. The droid has a lot of neat tools such as google maps and gps. Just wondering.

The upgrade price is the price they charge you for a new phone with a new or renewed 2 year contract. The new every 2 program is a separate thing that gives you like $150 credit or something every 2 years for a new phone. so basically, if your 2 year contract is up, and you are elligible for an upgrade, then you will pay the 199. if you also qualify for the new every 2 program, you would get the 199 price, minus whatever credit you get.

The NE2 gets you $50 off after 22 months of a 24 month span. You can upgrade your primary line earlier (12-22 months) but will not get the NE2 and will have to pay $16 extra.

Unless you are a VIP in which case the upgrade fee is waived.

The VIP program ended at the end of February. I got my discount just under the wire.

Hmm hadn't herd that :-( Wish Verizon would publicize those things or at least inform us.

I wonder if that means I will have to pay new line activation and renewal fess now or if I still get them waved because of my employer...

th credit is either 30, 50, or 100 when you upgrade.
You are eligible for newe2 20 mo. into your 2 yr contract

If you want a phone now (Droid) I would suggest the Amazon wireless offer. $49 for new or upgrade 2 yr. contract. Why wait for your NE2 to kick in and still have to pay more for the Droid?

Would I be able to do that?
I'm 15 months into my 2yr Storm contract. I went to Best Buy today to see if I could get a Droid for the 99 dollar price. They said they couldn't do an early upgrade but she was able to check my account and said I'd be able to at any Verizon store. She also said It may be possible at other places like BJ's Wholesale because the people who work the Kiosk are actual Verizon reps.
I wonder how Amazon would work? How would one find out?

I went to VZW last week for my Droid. $299-$100 rebate (waived at the store)-$100 NE2 disc. = $99+tax and I was able to use the BOGO offer also. Two Droids = $107.50 :)

I contacted Amazon Wireless yesterday, and they wouldn't renew my contract early until 22months, according to the email they sent back. Although, I have a second line that was "eligible for an upgrade" back in Nov. They said the $49 would apply for that. But, I'd have to wait for my primary line.

My 20mo NE2 date is the 26th of this month, then I'll be attempting to do what SOLO did (unless the Incredible or Nexus somehow comes out with a superior deal).

But, after finally having the opportunity to play with a live Droid at Best Buy, I fell in love.
