How can I change that to my incoming sms/text messages. When I goto sound options, I do not see anything for the Drooooid sound.

That sound file is hidden from regular file explorers like Astro. Most probably you will have to root your phone and use Root Explorer to copy the sound file into your Ringtone's directory:

No rooting required. I simply moved the audio file (downloaded from a thread on this forum) into my Media->Audio ->Notifications File and boom, there was the Droid sound. Once it is in your Notifications folder you can then find it in the rintone selection list. I use it for my SMS messages as well. I got the audio file from another thread on this forum. I'm at work and can't post it up for you here, but I know the audio file is floating around in here.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and I used Astro to move it btw. ;-)

I suppose someone with a rooted phone posted the file. From what I've read you can't access the file in the stock 2.2 phone.

Could be, not sure what the source of the audio file was. Astro views the file as an audio file and gives it the little music note symbol. I guess that was thanks to the op of the file on that other thread. ;-)

You can use Astro to copy the file. It is /system/customize/resource/VZW_Droid
Just long press it, select Edit->Copy and put it where you want. I put it in /sdcard/media/audio/notifications/
No need to download. :)

I downloaded the file and using Astro copied it into my ringtone file as well as my notifications file. The only problem is when I go to change my notifications the pop up screen does not show the Droid tone.
