People seem to think every device coming out next year will be dual core and if it isn't, the device will be worthless.

HTC is pretty much exclusive to Qualcomm. Does Qualcomm have any dual-core processors ready for mass market use? Not until late 2011. Right now the only current gen SoC processors they have are the MSM8x55 and MSM7x30 which have been used in the myTouch 4G and G2 respectively. Qualcomm Products and Services - The Snapdragon?„? Platform

I predict the phone will largely have the same innards as the MT4G or DHD. 1Ghz MSM8x55 Snapdragon, 768MB Ram, & Adreno 205 GPU. That should not be an issue to anyone, my MT4G is PLENTY fast especially overclocked to 1.8Ghz, I don't even need that kind of speed.

I remember hearing in the past that this phone is going to feature a resolution higher than WVGA 800x480, does anyone see this happening with HTC right now? What kind of panel could it be?

There is NO way this phone will have a dual-core processor if it launches Q1 in 2011. Let the crying begin.

im already sold on this phone. all this crying about dual core is getting annoying. i understand its an awesome thing. but im pretty sure dual core wont hit the stores until 2nd half of year. an for someone like me. dying to get off contract with att an lose my iphone 3g. since nov 20th, contracted ended. iv been patiently waiting for ces. so i hope it doesnt take long for this to hit the store.

also tho 800x480 is what alot of specs say on sites. i think they are just going with the norm. i have read this phone will have a bigger resolution. that would only make me wait for store to open more to get this.

Dual core would have helped its battery life. HTC may need to underclock it to 800Mhz to provide more than 8 hours of use with both CDMA and LTE radios on. I suspect the screen will be adequate but nothing special, and suffer in comparison to SAMOLED and whatever LG puts on their new phones.

And you will see dual core phones earlier than 2H...LG is releasing theirs in Europe in January, and it stands to reason they, Samsung, and Moto will have them out in the US before the end of March.

Is a Dual-Core processor even fully functional on any current version of Android? If not, its a moot point.

Well the third Gen snapdragon processor is shipping now the 45nm version which will be replaced with the 28nm version end of next year. So this phone could be dualcore but I doubt it. Android as an os doesn't fully support dualcore but that will change with hunnycomb. While I think this phone will perform great and will be a great buy with the tegra2 launching very soon .I don't know it will be a hard choice

Dual core is the new hot thing but HTC has never really lead the proc speed race or even worried about it. They came out with the evo and then it became clear that the texas instruments proc in the Moto devices where faster and had better GPU, then sammy dropped the Hummingbird proc that provides amazing GPU and speed. Android isnt made for dual core but it does help to future proof the device against updates and actually helps with battery life overall.

HTC has always been more concerned about ensuring that the user experience is the best it can be therefore they spend more time enhancing SENSE then worrying about chasing proc.

As for this device.. the battery life isnt that bad considering its pushing that big screen and LTE device radio and code isnt battery optimized as well as it will be.. There should be no regret upon getting this device or any of the upcoming devices.

course Im just saying.. its not like I have one.. ;)

;) "course I'm just saying.. its not like I have one.." ;) I'm sure you don't "own" it....;)

Thanks! Good info. I'm always worried about battery life. Good to know they are trying to optimize everything..

I wouldn't say the to processors were faster they just had better a better gpu. And you have to think about it they were using the snappy back in Jan with the n1 then spring with the dinc. But I'm sure I would be happy with this device. And honestly with them using the snapdragon processor they have pretty much stayed in the lead or right around it look at the desire hd and mt4g. Shoot the g2 can be added to that. Those new processores put the omap 3630 and hummingbird processors to shame

If it has lte I doubt it has the regular GSM bands but that's just me. It could be but I doubt it. One reason why is cost and complexity lte is new and I doubt they want to worry about GSM at this point
