Hello everyone I am new here.

Just bought a 64GB Droid Turbo from ebay a month ago. After using it as my daily driver for about two weeks, it started randomly. Sometimes it could not wake up and all buttons seemd useless and all I could do is to long press power button for seconds to make it reboot. But after the Droid animation ended the screen went black. I had to restart it again and if lucky, it rebooted successfully but showed “Android is starting”, “Optimizing app xx of xxx” which took lots of time. Tried wipe cache and factory reset and uninstalled all apps but the problem remains. These repeated several times a day and much more frequently these days which drove me crazy.

Because I purchased it oversea, it is an inconvenience to send it back. I decided to try some custom roms. I rooted it and used sunshine app to unlock the bootloader, have not flashed anything yet. Surprisingly it stops rebooting, the stand by time has been over 24 hours so far.

This is my experience about this annoying problem. I guess the problem is related to the bootloader. Hope it can be solved without flashing custom roms.

I would've suggested flashing Lollipop stock with RSDlite, first, then Sunshine if problems didn't weed out. You can backup your apps before doing a factory reset, but I'd be careful putting them back after, due to any unknown corrupted data. You may also have to reinstall TWRP after flashing Lollipop.

Just an update here.
Well, after unlocking the bootloader for a few days, the random rebooting continued. Then I tried flashing some custom ROMs like CM or RR, the problem remains. I flashed various versions including Lollipop and Marshmallow but the same result. Seemed good at first few days, but the device began unresponsive when standing by(can't wake up), then it reboots. Sometimes it showed unresponsive when its first reboot after I just finished flashing a new firmware. It reminds me that maybe this is a hardware issue.

Then I researched some topics about random reboot and unresponsive when standing by, not only the turbo's but other android phones, it seems like it might be something about the battery. I opened the back cover of Droid Turbo, unplugged the battery then plugged it back tightly. So far the device works pretty well.
