Droid X Calendar Issues

My calendar on the droid x won't sync any of my accounts ! every time i open it says to add a calendar but when i try to there's none there to add ! also would i be able to just overwrite the calendar app with one that works cause i really don't wanna switch my x out ! i just got it !!





Okay ... in the process of writing this, now my google one randomly works but still no facebook... help please ??

Have you tried any of the other apps? I don't use facebook, but I think there are other facebook apps.

For the calendar, try Calendar Pad. It's free and works great.

I had the same problem. I wound up having to create and add another gmail account in order for it to allow me to sync my first one. I could never get facebook to sync, even when I imported the file to my Google calendar. I just wanted to birthdays to sync up but I've since manually entered them.

yeah i want it for the birthdays but mainly my events, i'm very forgetful and always over promise to be places... but there isn't a way to like overwrite the actual calendar file with one that works ? or just a fresh droid x rom on top so it'll work ?

I dont think so, at least not that I've been able to find. Importing does transfer all of your events to your google calendar, at least you would have everything that you've already added in facebook.

okay i just exported the facebook calendar to the google calendar. but still no birthdays... :-(

I was able to get my friends birthdays from facebook to my calendar. i used a app called ebobirthday

I have not tried any import or export with Facebook but have not had any problems with other common applications.

IMO putting private data (birthdays are) in Facebook is at least 100 on the 1 - 10 scale of identity theft foolishness. Just do some news searches regarding Facebook, privacy, the Facebook apps.

The one problematic area I've had with Android is native ActiveSync being problematic compared to the third party options, Calendar worst among them. That data is from my being a sys admin who has had Droid phones on Exchange servers.

I recommend using the calendar associated with your Gmail account. You don't have to use the Gmail email address for anything other than establishing the Gmail account (mandatory to use the X). But the Gmail Calendar is VERY sweet ... syncs instantly to and from the X. Can set up reminders, etc., like any calendar app, but this one is tuned into the Google way of business and works extremely well. Best arrangement I've ever had with a calendar app.
