Droid X combines too many contacts

Hello all -

I know this has been discussed before but I just wondered if anyone has found a fix for Droid's annoying habit of combining contacts.
"Valerie" is not the same person as "Valentino" (not even the same gender!) yet Droidy decided that they were, and combined them into one contact, along with many other examples. Tr?s ennuyeux!!

So do we still have to go through the entire Contact List separating each combo, or is there a better way?

Any tricks to separating them?

Despite all the random reboots, bugs, freezes, battery pulls and other glitches, I do love my Droid!

I don't have a Droid X, but my sister does. I think the only thing you can do this is make sure you contacts are up-to-date in your Gmail contacts (adding people that weren't previously in there from Facebook or any other synced account), then choose to display only your Gmail contacts.
