Sometimes my phone says droid when I turn phone on and off. Sometimes it doesn't. What causes this and what is the setting to make sound everytime.

It uses your notification tone. It should sound every time the phone boots up and powers down. Mine sounds when it boots, and usually plays part of the tone (I don't use the default "DROID") when powering off. Sometimes it doesn't play when powering off.

Yes it seems to always play the sound when powering on. But only makes the sound sometimes when powering off. Is this normal

it because when you turn the phone on/off, the sd card is mounting/unmounting. thats why you get the notification tone. like the above poster said, the tone that sounds is whatever your default notification tone is

Why does it not make the tone everytime when powering off. Why is the sound sporadic

mine is as well. sometimes your x just powers off faster than the notification that the sd card is being unmounted can be delivered. i dont know of any way to ensure the tone plays every time

If its on silent or low volume it won't sound or will barely be audible

Also this happens if you had the device mounted as a Mass Storage because the notification alerts are stored on card and if card isn't accessible the alert can not sound on power off.

You do know that you can turn off the SD notification sound in the settings, right? If that doesn't work for you (which was sometimes the case for me), I created a 0.1 second long silent mp3 file that I use as my default notification and just have to remember to set the notification for each app. I generally like a different sound for each app anyway.

Mine makes the notification sound when powering phone off or when powering on.

Sounds everytime,no fail for me on that opt. ;)
