They making it look like is suppose to b better and faster than the EVO...well I don't think so, sprint is holding his own with 3g

that video sucks. should have set the phones to automatically go to the full site, instead of trial and error which fudges up the results.

I think that the Droid X is awesome just like the EVO is awesome. Android is really putting out a lot if high quality devices with these manufacturers. Good news for us.

Both are nice phones regardless. I like everything about the Droid X other than the top hump, same goes for the Evo except for the protruding camera. Overall, I picked the Evo because of the cheaper plans with Sprint. I get 20% discount via employer on both plans.

I'm not sure if Droid X has any restrictions, but the Evo is so much faster sense-less and uncapped from the 30fps limit.

It helps a lot to uncap the evo. That said with the dedicated graphics and better chip set the benchmarks won't even be close. Its not just gaming either. Still love my evo, at least now that its not being totally inhibited by poor coding.

Here is another one of his videos...

YouTube - Droid X versus HTC Evo 4G App/UI Speed Test

The guy is a bit of a tool, doesn't even know what processor is in the Droid X

Also, in regular usage both phones are right about the same speed, we know that already, where the Droid X has a big advantage is the 3d graphics. If you don't care about those, it's a complete toss up with the Evo having the edge with the second camera, the kickstand (yep, I said it!) and 4G if you're in a 4G area, while the Droid has the edge (excluding 3d graphics) by having more onboard memory and shipping with a 16 GB card compared to the Evos 8 gb.

That dude is clueless, and why he has both these phones and does speed tests without knowing jack about them is beyond me. Like the speed result for the wireless, it's known that the Evo has issues with wireless which are supposed to be fixed with an update soon, but this dude apparently didn't know that.

OMG, that was just horrible, the lack of knowledge when trying to be a "reviewer" or "tester"....sheeesh....

Ok, done ranting.

I'm not taking anything away fr the dx I give credit is just I keep seeing ppl acting like if it was a superphone way better than the EVO n not bcause I'm an EVO owner fr a honest opinion they look good but EVO has afew more features n if the 30 fps come off ufff will see then

When you see the Evo getting its rear end handed by the Droid X in the 3d graphics test as seen in the video on the Android Central main site, then you do feel a little weird as a Evo owner. While I love my Evo, I for one do wish we had a better gpu. Then again, I bought all those Gameloft games for my Pre, and never played them. It's the fun little games like labyrinth and stuff like that, that I am more likely to play. But I have always been the kind of person that wants everything to be perfect with the stuff I own, and to me the Evo is just a good GPU away from perfection. I guess I want it to have all the ammo needed to shut down my iPhone loving friends...lol.

Well that video has the X running live wall paper with the evo using a stagnant one.

Not exactly even.

Kind of neat to see the color differences between the lcds as well. The Droids LCD did have far more realistic color. Especially noticeable on the youtube clip.

Most people with Smartphone, including iPhones, don't play 3d games. There are some out there. I like Raging Thunder II. But right now, it is a very small market. What I hope is the Droid X shows there is a market for 3d games on a smartphone platform. Then more and more Smartphone will come with separate GPU's like it has. For now, Bejeweled and games like it dominate. 2D, no separate GPU needed.

And the 3D games I have run on the EVO have run great. No slow down, no chopping. So I do not know where the complaints come in.

Both phones are monsters and demolish the competition. Only way for me to decide between the two is the small differences:
- Evo 4g: kickstand, theoretical 4g years down the road
- DroidX: being $10 less per month.

I use Google Voice for free text messaging and I don't talk that much so Sprint's "better value" plans don't do anything for me but cost $240 more than the DroidX over the 2yr period...

What does it mean to uncap the evo and how do you do it? i googled it and only found a broken link to xda.

What I like about the droid X is the screen. Sprint or HTC used a cheap 65K color screen on the EVO. The Droid X has a 16.7 million color screen.

I personally don't play any games at all that's why I have a ps3 so for me the EVO is perfect 4g, kickstand, video chat, so dx has a better bench mark test but what about the rest, n it looks like sprint 3g kept up with Verizon 3g hand in hand so imagine 4g will blow Verizon away for those who thought Verizon 3g was faster the 4g u better look at that video

Sigh, why do we need to have these religious wars about phones. They're only phones, for God's sake, not life and death. If someone's life is so wrapped up in a device that his or her self worth is based on having a better phone that someone else, they have a sad, sad life. See my sig:

I agree. I did the same thing with my Pre. I bought the cool 3D games and played them all once. I wasted a lot of money that way. Then when the tower defense games came out guess what I was playing?

I actually do play some 3d games.

Let's Golf is actually a fun game that I enjoy.
On my Pre, I played Asphalt 5 till the death.
On my Evo, I finished career mode for Raging Thunder II. Fun game, I still have to get all the stunt stars.
I would like to play Nova... the $7 fee for a one time download is scaring me.

As for screens, I would love for a 16.7 million color screen... but oh well. My Pre had that display, so it was vibrant and lovely.
The Evo is fine, but would love the better color screen. I turn brightness to 50%-75%... so it doesn't look that washed out. It's not bad though. I like it.

However, I feel like Droid X will get good reviews for its screen, because the original Droid had "the best screen" according to some tests done or w/e. The Pre had the second best apparently.

Anyway, games can be optimized a bit more.
Try playing Raging Thunder II or Exzeus Arcade (very intense) ... those graphics will make you wonder where the 30fps cap and bad gpu went.
If game developers used the NDK to optimize their games, we could all play them.
