Droid X sms issue.

First things first, i'm using an unrooted X, updated with the latest verizon update, whatever it was. Golauncher, and Handcent SMS are the only apps i'd think would have anything to do with my sms.

Anyway, the problem is this: There is one person I cannot for the life of me text. Every text sent to them fails within 3 seconds of sending it, I however can recieve his texts fine, which sometimes makes for awkward conversations the next time I talk to him.

I text quite a few people regularly, and none of them have shown any such issue, they all send fine. What boggles my mind, is he too is using a stock X on verizon, so I can't imagine it's a phone/network incompatibility.

I've tried sending through the default text app too, and it still fails.

If anyone has any idea why this one dude can't receive my texts, i'd be mega grateful. Thanks

Don't judge me! He's one of my best buds, it's just weird having to hop onto facebook and respond to his texts.

I don't have a fix, but have ya tried Google voice at least as a work around until you get it fixed?

This may sound strange, but make sure that you have his phone number entered the same as the other contacts that you might have. Sometimes adding a 1 as in this number: 1-201-555-5555 can mess up your text messages, or not having an area code at all might mess it up also.

Otherwise I would uninstall Handcent and try that. Then clear the cache and reboot. Then use the stock messaging app to try to send the txt. That should eliminate Handcent as the culprit. Hopefully that works.

Ya. It really sounds as if there's an error in the number you have entered in your contacts. Check the contact list carefully. The number might be entered in the wrong place as well, or two numbers incorrectly identified (ie: main number listed as fax number).

I used to have my number set as private and had *82 in front of all my contacts so my number would come up when I called them. On a few of them it messed up my SMS texting. May not be your issue, but just putting it out there as a possible issue.

are you trying to reply to his sms or send him a new one? I wonder if he has a setting wrong in his phone. like the call back or reply number or something to that nature. Or like a few others have said, maybe you have something wrong with the number.

Also, could his plan not be allowing him to receive texts? I know I had a friend once that could send texts out, but no one could text her back. I think it was a phone plan issue.

I know im late in replying to this, if you still have the issue... sorry... but I may have some explanation for this, again, if you still have the issue.

What you experiencing sounds like "Inner Carrier Exchange" issues. IT could be a network issue or a device issue. The hard part in troubleshooting is figuring out where the problems lies. In the troubleshooting pryamid, Tech Support will check the biller > then network > then device... In my opinion, this should be done by both of you (call 611), just in case.
