Droid X to RAZR MAXX upgrade for $99 worth it?

Well, I've had my Droid X for over 2 years now. I am satisfied with the phone, but just want something a bit newer, more memory.

When I looked to upgrade a while ago the prices were just too high to justify.

Looking right now on Verizon for me to upgrade with discounts factored in would cost $169.99

To me, that is still a lot of money for a phone upgrade.

I stumbled onto Amazon to look at reviews of the phone. To my surprise Amazon Wireless is offering the phone for $99.99 and that is the 32GB RAZR MAXX!

To me that seems like a very solid deal if there are no catches.

I checked reviews of the Galaxy S3 and since I live in a rural area with a barely there 3G signal of 81dBm the Galaxy seems like a bad option for me, especially since it's $149 (the 16GB version) at Amazon.

I can't see how I can go wrong with this upgrade, but wanted to check here first. I am aware the MAXX HD will be coming out "before the holidays" but there will always be new phones coming out.

Anyone else go from the Droid X to the RAZR MAXX? Satisfied?

I consider myself a fairly light user. I will not root it.

I use Google Maps/Navigation pretty heavily, Facebook, Opera/Dolphin, some video streaming. I don't really do much audio on the phone. I know the camera on the S3 is better, but as long as the camera on the MAXX is better than the Droid X (which is pretty bad IMO) I'd be satisfied.

The phone did feel a bit wide to me when I saw it in the store, but I suppose I will get used to that the same way I got used to the size of the Droid X.

Thanks...

Dean

I had a Droid x, got a nexus, and got it replaced with a maxx due to bad signal. Couldn't have been happier. I should have just got this phone to begin with

If I were you, I'd wait. In November you'll be able to get a RAZR HD for $199 which will be MUCH faster, a MUCH better screen and will have similar/better life as the current MAXX.

If you only wanted to spend $99, I'd get the RAZR M. The S4 chip in all the new phones is too good to not get.

Good points & definitely worth considering. To the original question "is it worth it?", I'd say, yes.

I went from the X direct to Maxx and it's like comparing Apples to a Volkswagon.
EVERYTHING, everything is better.
I myself bought the $99 from Amazon for my son and he's very happy. That's a good deal.
The M is great, it's just small.
SIII is out of this world awesome, but it does NOT have the battery life we have with our Max's.
Go all day, do whatever you want and not worry about battery till bedtime with Maxx. I run mine wide open, full screen, etc. That freedom to do with as you want is amazing and not worry about your battery going down.

I went directly from the X to the MAXX and have been very happy with the MAXX. Great battery life and great hardware build. I went back to Motorola because of how much I liked the X and have never looked back since.

I upgraded from Droid X to Droid Razr. Good phone but the battery life and extreme thinness got on my nerves. It hurt to hold while typing. Now I have the Droid Razr Maxx and am quite happy. This Maxx is thicker enough (compared to the regular Droid Razr) so that holding the phone while typing is more comfortable.

Do not underestimate the value of a large 3300 mAh battery. LTE can drain a battery very quickly.
