I used DroidXRooting one click to root my Droid X 2.1. No issues. I decided to do the unofficial 2.2 for Droid X. No issues upgrading. The issue:

Now that I am upgraded I am not rooted. I have tried Universal Androot and also paid to get the EasyRoot. Both of these claim I am still rooted.

DroidXRooting one click says it unrooted but does not appear that way. It does not Root when I click on Root Me.

I have confirmed with terminal emulator that I am not rooted because I see $ signes instead of #.

I am trying another method and stuck at
Run "adb push exploid /sqlite_stmt_journals/exploid"
It does not find the /sqlite_stmt_journals directory. I am thinking 2.2 does not have this directory.

So the questions are:
Can 2.2 be rooted?
Any suggestions on removing the superuser.apk : SU and busybox so that I can start fresh?

Last but not least how can I take my device back to stock 2.1 like I got it from VZW.

Wow that is a lot, thank you for any advice or information.

U have to go back to 2.1 then root again. Take the su file out of system bin and move to the xbin. The us the zip to go back to 2.2 and it will keep root. Look for my post in the hack section on this as I was given some help with it last night. Wad long but worked in the end.
