When i log into FB using the facebook app in the market it does not give me an option to sync contacts. Anyone else seeing this. I have had the Droid and the Incredible and both did this. What's up with this....

Yes, I'm getting the same issue. Contacts aren't being pulled in or linked together. In fact, the account does not even show up in my list of accounts from the settings menu. Using the Droid X's built in Facebook connection has the account listed, but it still won't pull in Facebook contacts...

Mine pulled them

From my fiddling, motorola's facebook sync and the facebook application sync don't seem to play nicely together. I'll blame motorola here for whatever they've done, but I cannot get the sync from the facebook or twitter apps to work, only the default facebook/twitter stuff included by motorola for use in their social stuff.

Try uninstalling facebook and using the built in motorola one first?

Same issue here. When I first set up the phone, the contacts showed up. I installed the facebook app, deleted the motoblur facebook account, then added the account back and now I can't get my contacts to sync with facebook. I have tried everything short of wiping the phone and I'm getting angry at the prospect of having to do that.

I have deleted my facebook account several times and added it back. I even tried another facebook account that I have. Unless there's something wrong with the facebook backend, it appears that the phone is simply not communicating with Facebook.

I'm about ready to take this thing back to Verizon and go back to my Incredible.

So i can't sync all contacts like i could on the droid, but mine appears to have synced the contacts that i had in my contact book. However Im def not receiving facebook messages like they claim you should be able to. I'll get emails with the messages and not in the messaging app.

I am having the same issue, installed the official app, decided I didn't like it and now I can't get the blur app working properly

same here as well. its pulling status updates, but not syncing pics. i also installed the market app, and then got rid of it

I'm using the facebook touch site not app, but from when I first tried the moto's app grabbed my contact pics but not the app from market.

Also, I asked in another thread does anyone know how this is done? How does your phone detect contacts? Are they matching names? emails(don't think so because I only have a few contacts with emails, same for phone numbers, don't think all my contacts have their phone number in FB)

they do match phone numbers for those friends that have theirs listed in FB. for those that dont though, you can manually link google and facebook contacts as well

so to update, i tried a few fixes to get my FB pics to sync to no avail, so i did a factory reset, and that did it. moral of the story is to not download the market app if you dont want sync issues with the philblur FB.

My X pulled in all the Facebook contacts and combined them with my gmail contacts and the contacts that were on my Storm that the X replaced. I used the Facebook app that came with the X.

Log-In with WIFI ON thats all it takes.

Before you do anything, make sure you Log OFF from Facebook on your Facebook for Android App. And also delete your Facebook Account from your Phone.
You can try deleting your Facebook App and reinstalling it from the market if you think is necessary, even if it doesn't come with the Sync all existing Contacts feature this steps should work.
I have no idea why it does not work with 3G, but WI-FI was the answer for me.
I know all the screenshots say 3G, thats because I already synced all my Facebook friends and I don't have Wi-Fi at my house.
Good Luck~!

The issue with this procedure (pics) is that it uses the X's built in social networking app which SEVERELY kills battery life! Even with "Sync over Wifi Only" I have found the motoblur social networking app is continuously pulling news/update feeds from Facebook even with Wifi disabled. (To verify, I simply went to "Social Networking" and saw updates by the minute even though my wifi has been off for over a week!) This has been very frustrating as my phone was dying very quickly and I ultimately desire to control when it will be using precious resources. Therefore, I recently disabled the internal app with hopes the Facebook for Android would do what everyone claims... link Contacts while being able to actually control its refresh/sync intervals. Alas, as others here have mentioned it fails. Also, the mentioned procedure would basically kill the battery even quicker since TWO apps would be pulling the same data.

Since other phone users claim the syncing works properly, I'd assume the two should not be required to work together on the X.

Does any Droid X user have contacts syncing properly through Facebook for Android running solo WITHOUT also logging in through the built in motoblur social networking app?

xanxitto That fixed me up

phoenixdye - I couldnt get it to work with just the facebook app. It only worked with the X's built in I haven't even signed into the facebook app yet.
