Do you think the slight curve of the phone makes this phone any more durable and resistant to drops?

It might if you drop it the right way... I, for one, wouldn't want to be the one to find out :P

The curve, however, usually proves quite frail to pressure, so that might be a weak point. Again, not something I'd be willing to test hehe

Haha makes sense. I wanna get this phone for my wife and the leather looks so nice, but it's kinda pointless if you're gonna cover it with a case. Or if the phone would even fit in a case with the leather back.

To a degree maybe. Putting a case on is a safe bet.

Although in my experience, tempered glass screen protector does the job. It cracks itself and not your phone screen.

Worth looking into if going caseless.

^^^Would there be enough flexibility in a glass protector to conform to the curved display, and not tend to lift?

I doubt it. Then again sometimes it's just all about luck like what happened with my hTc EVO 3D. Fell from chest high and not a single chip, dent or scratch.

Good question. The are a few on amazon already but without an actual G4 pictured. Like the one from supershield

I'll but one soon and find out

I had a G Nex with a curved glass and never had a problem with it, in fact don't remember it being a problem I heard about with the phone.

On a side note the only screen I ever cracked was on a BlackBerry and it hit perfectly square to the ground face down. If it would have had a curved screen I think it would have saved it.

I think it just all depends on how it lands, and a little bit of luck.I don't think the glass being curved would really make alot of difference either way ,for the glass to get cracked or not get cracked.

You can get a bumper style case... Not full protection but better than nothing.

I just hope the g4 screen is still easy and inexpensive to replace, like g3. We'll have to wait for tear down tests.

I'm betting it'll take the same abuse as any other phone without a case on it. However, I wonder what the Flex camp say. Anyone own a Flex and have dropped it without a case?

I think the curve's main feature is to help with how a device sits in your hand as opposed to adding any strength to the construction.

How was it at protecting your G3? Will probably look into this if she decides to get the leather back.

Few drops on Kitchen tile and still fine. I took it off though because it always felt odd in hand, large groove surrounding the phone and all.

The verge review says LG stated it is 20% less likely to shatter when dropped.

Hmm.

Sounds like Gorilla Glass 4. Less likely to shatter but softer so easier to scratch. If GG4 I'm getting a screen protector!

I think they said 20% harder to shatter because of the slight curve...

Posted on my Moto X that is prob being charged as we speak...
